Repatriation flights to Madagascar

In accordance with the declarations of the President of the Republic in his speech on Sunday 8 August 2021, Air Madagascar will set up repatriation flights to Madagascar. But the country's borders remain closed.

One way ticket

Air Madagascar will operate five repatriation flights to Madagascar from Paris. These flights will take place between August and September.

These repatriation flights are one-way flights, reserved for people with Malagasy nationality, a Malagasy passport or a laissez-passer issued by the Malagasy Embassies.
People returning to the country will have to carry out a PCR test. And they will have to confine oneself at the hotel or at the CNAPS complex according to their means, once arrived in Madagascar.
But there will also be repatriation flights to France, in the direction of Antananarivo – Paris.

The airline Air Madagascar published, yesterday, the program of these flights.

In the France – Madagascar direction :

  • departure Paris 7:30 p.m. – Arrival Antananarivo the next day at 7:30 a.m.

In the Madagascar – France direction :

  • Departure Antananarivo 10:30 p.m. – Arrival Paris the next day at 8:30 a.m.

  • 20 September 2021

Conditions for those who want to go to Madagascar

These flights are reserved for people with Malagasy nationality, a Malagasy passport or a laissez-passer issued by the Malagasy Embassies. Interested parties are invited to comply with a few conditions, including the following :

  • to file a prior request, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to the email address fampodiana2021@diplomatie.gov.mg or or at the Embassy of Madagascar in Paris.
  • join on their request the documents justifying the reasons for which they must return to the country,
  • join on their request a copy of the Malagasy passport,
  • and an exact address of the applicant in Madagascar,
  • Finally a letter of commitment not to leave Madagascar until the next opening of the border.

The list of travelers will be subject to the approval of the Malagasy authorities.

Traveling in business class will cost 2200 EUR, and the trip in economy class is worth 911 EUR. People from other countries who must reach Paris to reach Antananarivo, will receive a discount. The ticket price will be from 730 euros for them.

And for those who want to go to Paris

Travelers must comply with the recommendations of the French State, namely:

  • Possess an entry visa for French territory.
  • For people vaccinated against Covid-19 : justify a complete vaccination by means of one of the vaccines recognized by the French State (allows entry into French territory and dispenses with the presentation of a negative PCR test to be able to travel).
  • For non-vaccinated people : Entry into the territory remains limited to the categories of people listed on the international travel certificate from the French Ministry of the Interior.. These people remain subject to the presentation of a negative PCR test dating from less than 72 hours (list available on website of the French Ministry of the Interior)

A health risk for the country

These repatriation flights will allow Malagasy nationals at the end of their contract, or at the end of studies to return home. But health professionals warn that these thefts present a risk regarding the importation of the delta variant of Covid-19 into Madagascar.

We will strengthen the surveillance of passengers disembarking in Madagascar, according to the Minister of Public Health, Professor Hanitrala Jean Louis Rakotovao.

“Only those who present a negative PCR test can fly. They will take a PCR test upon arrival at Ivato. They will be confined for seven days. On this seventh day of confinement, we will do a counter test. If it's negative, they can leave. The opposite case, they will continue the confinement and will follow a treatment ”, explains this teacher.

And while waiting, the borders of Madagascar remain closed.

      Indeed, to be able to go to Madagascar, It is necessary to :
      – Be of Malagasy nationality, have a Malagasy passport or a laissez-passer issued by the Malagasy Embassies
      – Have documents proving the compelling reason for the trip (end of stay, end of contract, return after medical treatment…)
      – Have state authorization to return to Madagascar with sworn statement of a commitment not to leave Madagascar until the borders open, which will be registered with the Malagasy border police.

    Today I found your email address and I take the liberty of asking you for advice. . A friend of mine has been stuck here in France for months . He had come for treatment . We have set up a file with the embassy to take advantage of a repatriation flight but no response. He has his resident card and usually lives in Sainte Marie . The successive plane tickets he took with a travel agency were all reimbursed for flight cancellation . This situation is becoming dramatic and I no longer know what to do to help him.. If you have an idea , an address , a phone number to advise me I would be grateful because I am powerless in front of such a problem . thank you and forgiveness for entering your existence like this but necessity is the force of law we say greetings
