A national mobilization to save Nature.

The World Economic Forum in his 14^th report on global economic risks 2019 Considers that half of the world's most likely and most impactful risks are related to the loss of nature and climate change. We are talking about the collapse of ecosystems and global warming. Il s’agit aussi des phénomènes météorologiques extrêmes et des catastrophes environnementales causées par l’homme.

For the first time, biodiversity loss is also among the top 10 risks to our societies and economies. Madagascar is one of the most at-risk countries. Et certaines pratiques destructrices ne facilitent pas les choses pour la Nature. Between 2011 and 2018 for example, Madagascar has lost more than 3.5 million hectares of forest cover according to the Global Forest Watch. This is equivalent to a loss of 21% compared to the forest cover of the year 2000.

Solutions durables

First, tout n’est pas perdu pour notre pays, and durable solutions exist, à partir du moment où la Nature est reconnue comme un des piliers qui garantissent l’émergence de Madagascar. Car, faut-il le rappeler que communautés côtières et plus de la moitié de la population du pays dépendent des ressources naturelles pour vivre au quotidien.

The year 2020 qui arrive à grands pas est une année charnière pour le futur de Madagascar et pour la biodiversité mondiale. En 2020, Governments around the world must act to stop and reverse the decline of biodiversity. Because in 2020, all countries will decide what actions to take to protect and restore Nature by 2030. Ils mettront en œuvre leurs engagements sur le climat. Ils fixeront de nouveaux objectifs de développement durable.

To ensure Madagascar's emergence in the 5 years to come, and given the importance of Nature in our economy, c’est une urgence nationale de préserver les écosystèmes naturels existants. C’en est aussi de restaurer ceux qui sont détruits ou dégradés. Notre engagement va assurer un avenir durable pour les générations futures.

Nous ne partons pas de zéro. Madagascar a signé les accords sur la convention de la biodiversité mondiale.

Notre pays a signé les accords de Paris sur le climat. L’Etat malgache a pris comme engagement ferme de reverdir notre pays avec une politique de reboisement nationale très ambitieuse.

Tous ensemble

L’état à lui seul ne peut pas tout faire. Il faut une mobilisation de tout un chacun pour sauver la Nature. Private sector, international bodies, civil society organisations, public figures, Youth and the media, all the living forces of the nation, we need to realize that we need to change things and act now.
