Judo : Laura ends the year 2023 in 1st place in the world

Laura Rasoanaivo, the Malagasy judokate had an exceptional season this year. She won her distance fight against the best young people in her category, and left its mark on Africa.

Great feats

Laura ends the year at the top of the world junior rankings under 70 kg, and won 10 gold medals on 18 competitions she participated in.

This exceptional result is the result of a remarkable season, marked by exploits.

Laura Rasoanaivo won all three continental cups, in Tunis, in Luanda and Niamey. She thus won first place in the world rankings on 11 April, a first for a Malagasy judoka.
The young Malagasy Judokate subsequently experienced a slump, during the Paks Junior European Cup. She failed to reach the podium and lost a few points before being dethroned by her rival at the time, the German Samira Bock. But Laura did not give up and bounced back in the most beautiful way, during the African championship in Antananarivo, by retaining his continental title acquired in 2022. She thus regained the head of the world ranking and never left it.

Laura has also proven herself among the seniors

Laura Rasoanaivo-Razafy didn't just shine among the juniors. It has also proven itself among seniors, by winning the African Senior Championship for the first time in his career.

She also won three gold medals, during Open tournaments on the continent.
Laura Rasoanaivo-Razafy is undoubtedly the revelation of Malagasy judo this year. She can be proud of her career and her track record. She can also hope for a bright future among the seniors, a category in which she will have the opportunity to measure herself against the best in the world.

For 2024, Laura Rasoanaivo's main objective remains the Paris Olympic Games. It is well placed for the continental quota with 1057 points.
