African Union - Madagascar champion in the fight against malnutrition. The State's efforts are welcomed by the African Development Bank (EA #.).

"Madagascar is a champion in the fight against malnutrition", said Akinwumi Adesina, AfDB President. It was in Addis Ababa, Saturday, at a meeting focused on the fight against malnutrition, organized by the AfDB, at the 33rd African Union Summit in this capital of Ethiopia, yesterday and this day.

During this meeting, Andry Rajoelina, head of state Malagasy, supported government programmes to improve food quality, drinking water supply and projects for the production of food.

The multiple state interventions in the South, supported by technical and financial partners such as the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), World Food Programme (Pam), among others, allowed the country to shine among the thousand.

In deep South, where food insecurity is rife in the face of climate change and lack of precipitation, hundreds of thousands of children enjoy hot meals, every school day. It's thanks to the "school canteens" program, Ministry of National Education, technical education and vocational training, and funded by WFP.

Weight monitoring of young children continues. Chronically malnourished, acute or severe, benefit from nutritional supplement. Despite these multi-sector activities, southerners continue to fight to eat to their hunger, for access to water, drinking or not.

There is still a long way to go to eradicate this malnutrition.
