Servant of the bosses. This is what it is called Thierry Rajaona – new president of the GEM (Madagascar Business Group). The GEM is a confederation of national and territorial professional and interprofessional organisations, national inter-professional groups and directly affiliated companies.

All representatives of the fifty-three structures, at the GEM Executive Board to elect a leader for a two-year term, have handed their trust to this leader of FTHM consulting, and incidentally PCA from Sipem Bank.

"It's time or never"

Friday 28 February, in his first speech following his election, he revealed that this position had already been offered to him several times. And the person he succeeds also asked him to take over because "now is the time or never". It is therefore after years where he has remained in the shadows and most recently as Vice-President of the GEM, Thierry Rajaona sees himself propelled to the front of the economic scene. It's to be the voice of companies, but above all to represent the image of the bosses. "I'm not the boss of the bosses. But it is my responsibility to bring public-private dialogue back to life. And that's starting with the organization of the private sector's foundations.", says Thierry Rajaona.

Firm and frank, he acknowledged to his peers the slowing down of the dialogue between the government and the private sector. And he promises, as a result, "a position and responsibility of the GEM in all institutions and institutions where the group has representation on the board of directors as is the case with the Economic Development Board of Madagascar, and the Toamasina Autonomous Port Society , Malagasy Professional Training Fund and many others".

Ascension and continuity

According to Thierry Rajaona, the group he leads now represents 80 % CNaPS contributors or National Social Welfare Fund. With more than two thousand member companies, GEM has a significant impact on the taxpayer community.

"Respect for business ethics must be relived, which is to refute corruption, to avoid the mistreatment of employees, not to enter into bad competition", claims Thierry Rajaona. A personality with twenty-five years of experience in the corporate world in Madagascar.

Immediately back from France, in his youth, he joined the Bolloré group where he served as controller and was a colleague of the outgoing president of the GEM, Noro Andriamamonjiarison, then held a directorship in the same company. The latter and Thierry Rajaona are among the cornerstones of the GEM. They joined from the beginning, after discovering the experience of the business group, entrepreneurs and SMEs in France. Noro Andriamamonjiarison, having completed her term as President of the GEM, has made no secret of his full confidence in "the personality of Thierry Rajaona, who is responsible for the role of assuming a position to which he has already accommodated himself by holding the position of Vice-President".
