Ramadan Mubarak

In a press release published yesterday 10 March, National Muslim Federations have confirmed that Ramadan begins today 11 March 2024. We wish all Muslims a good start to Ramadan.

What is Ramadan ?

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, a holy month during which Muslims around the world observe fasting (saoum) from sunrise to sunset. This religious practice is one of the five pillars of Islam, that is to say the fundamental acts of faith.

During Ramadan, Muslims abstain from eating, to drink, smoking and having sex during the day. The daily fast is broken each evening with a meal called iftar, from the precise time of sunset, which varies every day and according to each city.

According to the forecast date, the end of Ramadan will be 10 April 2024. This is an estimate based on astronomical calculations. It is an opportunity for all Muslims to get together with family and celebrate the end of Ramadan..

Aïd el-Fitr

Eid al-Fitr is the first day of the Islamic month of Shawwal. It marks the end of Ramadan. It is one of the two most solemn dates in the Muslim calendar along with the other Eid, Eid el-Kébir or Eid el-Adha, the great feast or feast of sacrifice which commemorates, according to Muslim tradition, the sacrifice that God asked of Abraham to test his faith.

Eid el-Fitr takes place the day after the last day of the month of Ramadan (the 9th month), i.e. the first day of the month of Shawwal (the 10th month). The exact date is determined a few days before by the religious authorities during the

Madagascar, This event is part of the religious holidays.

Zakat al-fitr

At the end of the month of Ramadan, to validate and purify your fast, the Muslim must pay the Zakat al-Fitr (charity in the form of food).

This Zakât must be paid by each Muslim head of household (in general the father of the family) for him and for those dependent on him mandatory (women, children, elderly parents, etc.).

We wish a happy Ramadan Mubarak to all Muslims and particularly to our Muslim friends in Majunga.
