Travel conditions to Madagascar
Following the Council of Ministers of 23 February concerning the total reopening of the Malagasy borders from this 5 March 2022, the travel conditions to Madagascar have been communicated today. According to this ministerial press release, the airports of Toamasina and Nosy-Be are now authorized to receive commercial flights like that of Antananarivo.
Rules and conditions to enter Madagascar
As announced on 23 last February, the government will impose certain conditions on entering Malagasy territory. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of tourism, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and the Ministry of Public Health met. And the latter informed us of the rules and conditions for traveling to Madagascar through a press release.
These rules and conditions are as follows :
- Presentation of the negative result of a test PCR carried out 72 hours before boarding,
- Presentation of a booking certificate for two (02) nights from an approved hotel and payment for at least one night,
- Realization of a PCR test on arrival in Madagascar, at the expense of the traveler,
- Containment mandatory until the PCR test result is obtained,
- Release of the passenger if negative result,
- Treatment in an approved hospital or medical hotel for a positive result.
Actually, sanitary measures remain unchanged.
Opening of Toamasina and Nosy-Be airport
According to this statement, the airports authorized to receive commercial flights are currently that of Antananarivo, from Toamasina and Nosy-Be.
Airlines
- Air Austral on the Reunion-Antananarivo and Reunion-Toamasina line
Madagascar can accommodate from this month of March the Air Austral company for the Reunion-Antananarivo and Reunion-Toamasina routes with two weekly frequencies.
- Vols charters : Neos Air pour Nosy-Be
Nosy-Be can accommodate charter flights from now on. Those operated by the company Neos Air will start next April with a weekly frequency, during the first two weeks of operation. And may extend to two frequencies per week thereafter.
The said company has already filed a program with the Civil Aviation of Madagascar (Acm).
For other airlines ready to serve Madagascar, exchanges are currently in progress in order to perpetuate the opening of the borders. They will start the service after some readjustments.
