330 909 tourists welcomed in Madagascar in 2025

After years of crisis, the island of a thousand wonders regains its charm and attracts more and more visitors.

An encouraging tourism recovery

En 2025, Madagascar welcomed 330 909 tourists, far exceeding the 316 873 visitors from 2024 and even the 306 284 travelers recorded before the pandemic. Real proof that the island remains an unmissable destination. Its unique biodiversity, its heavenly beaches, its lush rainforests and authentic culture continue to seduce travelers.

The end of the year 2025 was, however, marked by a temporary drop in attendance. This is linked to the political crisis, which led to the suspension of several international flights and the cancellation of numerous reservations.

But the resilience of the sector quickly became evident. In December, 31 475 tourists were counted, signaling a return to growth and the desire of visitors to rediscover Madagascar.

These figures demonstrate not only the lasting attractiveness of the island. They also reflect local efforts to revive tourism. The promotion of ecotourism and lesser-known destinations contributes greatly to this.

Trust and stability : the pillars of tomorrow's tourism

Professionals in the sector remain optimistic and confident. For them, political stability and strengthening traveler confidence are essential to maintain and develop this dynamic.

Malagasy tourism is also focusing on the diversification of its offer. Explore the Highlands, discovering the semi-arid South or visiting the outlying islands appeals to a public in search of authenticity and adventure.
