Vaccine : more than 300 thousand doses of Janssen arrived in Madagascar. As the Prime Minister announced last Sunday, doses of Janssen have just arrived in Malagasy territory.

287 613 people will have to benefit from the Janssen vaccine, on the 302750 doses received Tuesday 27 July 2021 at Ivato Airport.
This vaccine enters the COVAX mechanism. For the moment those who will be able to access this vaccine must respect the required age. People aged over 18 years will be able to be injected with the vaccine, according to details upon receipt of donations to Ivato.
“In the projection of people to be vaccinated, we also try to prevent from dose loss. This is what justifies that the number of beneficiaries is related to this figure”, explains Doctor Fanjambololoniaina Dominique Rajaobelina, Secretary General of the Ministry of Public Health.

Without any other details, the Ministry of Public Health explains that they will shortly communicate registration for this vaccine. Free vaccination was also highlighted during the reception at Ivato. “The signing of an agreement with the World Bank made it possible to prioritize the fight against COVID-19. Part of this sum will be allocated to the purchase of batches of vaccines. The State will ensure that the population receives the necessary vaccine doses free of charge”, indicated Dr. Tehindrazanarivelo Djacoba Liva, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

For other people, They will wait a little longer before launching. “I prefer to observe before embarking on this vaccine”, says Hervé.
As announced by the Prime Minister, the distribution of the Janssen vaccine is part of the national vaccination deployment plan and within the framework of the COVAX initiative. They are planning AstraZeneca doses for August.
