General De Gaulle Avenue runs along six neighborhoods : on the left side, the districts of Manga, Morafeno and Ambalavola and on the right side, areas of Ambovoalanana, Marovato slaughterhouse and Manjarisoa.

At the beginning of the Avenue General De Gaulle, right, the building of the District of Mahajanga stands. A building that contains several administrative offices.

The "Vy Lava.", Once a quay for mooring boats, follows. The current neighborhood of Ambovoalanana (and many other areas of the southern part of the city) is built on an embankment. On the left side of the Avenue General De Gaulle, We find several trade shops (trade and retailer) managed by Indian families installed in the country for a long time.

Arrival at the roundabout of Mahabibo, General de Gaulle Avenue opens left on Church Avenue (who joined the road of Amborovy) and right on the Avenue of the Comoros (to the great Friday mosque where take place the great feasts and Muslim ceremonies).

After the roundabout of Mahabibo, on the right side of the Avenue General de Gaulle, We find the market of Mahabibo. Formerly, were the days of opening up the market of Mahabibo on Wednesday and Friday. Renovated and inaugurated in 2006 with the 2 other major markets of the city (Marolaka and Tsaramandroso), the market is open every day and even the Sunday morning. Busy, the market of a thousand colors, fascinated by the elegance of the drapery of the sakalava vendors, offers various food and artisanal products.

On the right side, at the corner of Avenue of the Church and of the continuity of General De Gaulle Avenue, is the Commissioner of Police of the 2nd District. Near this station, on Church Avenue, is the Catholic Church of Mahabibo, which has always been a focal point of the neighborhood of Mahabibo. The first church, a "hut"., dated from 1902. A new building was built in 1921 and expansion which gave its current state dated back to 1934.

After the police station and the market of Mahabibo, both sides of the Avenue became commercial popular and must-see City (sale of second-hand clothing, lingerie, cosmetics, small supermarket, etc.).

The great Avenue of General De Gaulle, decorated in the Middle by the garden said islets 'Cayla '. (Unfortunately in a State rundown), ends on the place of the 29 March 1947. A deposit of sheaves ceremony was held annually at the foot of the commemorative stele of the anti-colonial fighters.
