Flights resume in Madagascar

Flights resume in Madagascar, international and regional flights.

Madagascar has reopened its airports to commercial flights since the beginning of October 2020. Given the decrease in the spread of the virus in the country, activities are starting to pick up. And this Tuesday 06 October, Air Austral has announced the resumption of flights between Reunion and Madagascar.

Flights resumed in Reunion and Madagascar

Air Austral announced 6 last October the resumption of links between Reunion and Madagascar after several months of suspension. Unfortunately, this recovery only concerns the island of Nosy Be. Indeed, the airline has permission to resume its flights to and from Nosy Be Island.

Two flights are scheduled 16 and 23 October for a gradual resumption of flights. A negative PCR test must be presented within three days of boarding in order to enter the territory.

In their press release, they announce : "Following the latest announcements and government requests formalizing the reopening of Nosy Be Island to international travellers from October 1 2020, Air Austral, in close contact with its guardianship authorities, is pleased to announce after several months of suspension, be allowed to resume its connections to and from the Malagasy destination. »

The company approves the health guidelines. "The health and hygiene measures in place, meet the reciprocal requirements of the French and Malagasy authorities to ensure our passengers have the best level of health safety. »

"This popular destination in Madagascar, again accessible to tourism, will gradually meet the demand for travel. », points out Marie Joseph Malé, Chairman and CEO of Air Austral.

Safety measures against coronavirus

It is after a PCR test carried out as soon as the plane descends and a 48-hour confinement in their hotel that passengers will be able to enjoy their holidays on this paradise island and its archipelago.

This recovery is still far from a return to normal.

"We had terrible months like all our colleagues during the closure of the border. This month with the reopening of international flights, we hope, but hope is even less because with all the measures imposed, which is normal, tourists are still worried. They are hesitant to make the decision to come this year. We've got a few reservations., but we can't say that there are a lot of tourists coming. narindraniaina says, manager of the Hotel Au Sable Blanc.

On the national territory, measures are becoming lighter and lighter.

De new relief measures as of Monday 5 October :

  • Curfew no longer in effect across the country
  • Opening of all transport in regional and national areas as well as domestic flights . PCR tests must be performed 48 hours before each flight.
  • Wearing masks and complying with sanitary measures remain mandatory.
  • Gatherings of more than 200 people remain banned.

Please note there are currently no tourist flights departing from France and 42 other countries elsewhere. The agencies know this very well but accept your reservation and then the flight is postponed or canceled, which allows a refund (possible) after a very long delay more than 3 months and often 6 month in general. In fact the agencies make cash with your money. Be careful with Air Madagascar you will probably never be reimbursed. The financial statement of the company …………
