Madagascar : Passage du cyclone Help

Assessment of the damage left by Batsirai

The passage of cyclone Batsirai caused a heavy toll of damage, even if this is still only a provisional assessment. According to the newspaper l’Express de Madagascar, we have identified seventy thousand three hundred and fifty-five victims .

Sixty-two thousand victims are currently in accommodation sites.

The material damage is also significant. Seventeen bridges are cut, and seventeen route cut points are notified. For the education sector, two hundred and eleven schools were affected by the cyclone.

Sixty-nine classrooms were completely destroyed and four hundred and thirty-nine, partially destroyed. Fifty-five classrooms are disheveled.

Resumption of air traffic
