Le tourisme solidaire by Hôtel★★★ Restaurant gourmand Coco Lodge Majunga.

Solidarity tourism includes forms of "alternative" tourism which put in the center of the travel man and the meeting and that are part of a logic of development of territories.
The involvement of local populations in the different phases of the tourist project, respect for the individual, of cultures and nature and a more equitable distribution of the resources generated are the foundations of this type of tourism.

This definition was developed by in 2004 by a Steering Committee made up of the UNAT, associations of tourism and their partners.

Note also that sustainable development, for intergenerational equity (at the time solidarity between the generations) and intragenerationelle (solidarity in the space between the territories) is very close to the concept of fair tourism which registration in a North/South vision is today debated.

The last International solidarity Tourism Forum was held in Bamako in 2008.

Social tourism is “all reports and phenomena resulting from participation in tourism and in particular the participation of low-income social strata. This participation is possible, or facilitated, by measures of a well-defined social character”.
It refers to programs, achievements and actions that are intended to make effective the right to holidays and access to tourism for all groups of population, including youth, families, retirees, people with modest incomes, people with restricted physical ability, but who are also the quality of the relationship between visitors and host communities.

Social tourism includes also the achievements that contribute to make it accessible to the practice of outdoor activities, especially for youth. He therefore deserves to expand democracy in the territory for recreation and tourism, but also social and educational purposes.
It covers also the measures implemented by the Governments of various countries to encourage holiday and which are often the result of struggles by trade unions, associations, community groups.
