En 2012, in order to highlight the power of radio as a platform for education and freedom of expression as well as its vital role in the response to crises and disasters, UNESCO has called to celebrate the 13 February each year, a world day of radio.

All radios are invited to join this event said the spokesperson for the "UNESCO in its press release.

Inexpensive media, requiring the implementation of a relatively simple technology, the radio reaches listeners away on all points of the territory and nomadic groups. According to the international telecommunications union, more than 75% homes of developing countries have at least one radio receiver.

A vector of freedom
