Much remains to be done to the environment and biodiversity in Madagascar ! This week, the Minister of the environment, Ecology, the sea and the forests, Jonathan Chelet attended the World Water Day Global Water Security Summit, held in Washington, in the United States. This is an invitation from the USWP (United States Water Partnership) confirming a recognition of the Americans on the efforts and initiatives undertaken so far by the Malagasy Department dedicated to the environment. Note that the USWP is a platform that offers opportunities for public-private partnership to establish solutions to immediate impacts, but with effects on the long term in the context of the safety of the water, both the United States and the rest of the world.
This move allowed the holding of an interview session to consolidate prospects for cooperation between the two countries ; marked by a new meeting between Jonathan Dirassen and Dr. Shannon Smith, Assistant Under-Secretary of State in the Office of the U.S. African Affairs, which was already visited in November last in Madagascar. Through this participation, Madagascar joined the will to implement a policy of sectoral cooperation able to solve as soon as possible of the structural and recurring problems on environmental topics. A perspective of collaboration that the Americans are present.
