COVID-19 : Madagascar is a safe destination

Madagascar obtained the “Safe Travels Stamp”, the label of the World Travel and Tourism Council. It is recognized as a safe destination for international tourists in the face of Covid-19.

Since September 2021, Madagascar has joined the long list of international destinations that have obtained the ” Safe Travels Stamp”.

Indeed, the health protocols put in place by the Malagasy government have been validated by the World travel and tourism council (WTTC – World Travel and Tourism Council).

This validation resulted in the issuance of the ” Safe Travel Stamp ” which recognizes the country on the international scene, for the implementation of hygiene protocols ensuring the safety of travelers during the pandemic.

” Safe Travels by WTTC ” is the world's leading safety and health label for travel and tourism, designed specifically to fight COVID-19 and other pandemics.

WTTC indeed is an important network in the world Tourism sector, whose mission is to develop the potential for inclusive and sustainable growth of the tourism sector.

Madagascar is a safe destination

Madagascar is therefore one of the safe destinations thanks to the specific measures put in place for the various tourism professions..

More than 7000 agents in hotel and catering establishments, in travel companies and tourist guides received training on hygiene protocols. Training that the National Tourist Office of Madagascar (ONTM) has developed in 2020, on behalf of the Ministry of Tourism and in partnership with the Madagascar Tourism Confederation (Ctm).

To date, more than 1000 establishments in several regions have completed the training. They are certified as compliant with the application of the hygiene protocols put in place. Of course, Coco Lodge Majunga is one of these establishments.

The reopening of the borders has allowed the arrival of 18 658 non-residents in the first quarter 2022.
