Arrival of the first flight from Europe

The resumption of flights between Europe and Madagascar started well yesterday (Saturday the 06 November 2021). This Sunday 07 November then marks the arrival of the first flight from Europe/France since the opening of Madagascar's borders. President Rajoelina was on board with the 400 passengers of the first Madagascar Airlines flight.

The President of the Republic Andry RAJOELINA arrived in Madagascar this morning after attending the World Climate Summit or COP26 which was held in Glasgow, Scotland. So he took the plane with his compatriots Malagasy people who came to visit their families and see their loved ones.

According to the information, 400 passengers disembarked at Ivato International Airport. Passengers generally coming from the four corners of Europe.

02 flights per week

For this recovery, Madagascar Airlines schedules its long-haul flights with a frequency of 2 weekly rotations, from and to France, with a round-trip fare starting from €1,060.

These flights are carried out with a Boeing 787 Dreamliner of the Spanish company Air Europa.

Sanitary measures

As was the case when the borders reopened for regional flights, the authorities concerned have taken all measures to prevent these flights from contributing to a possible resurgence of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Malagasy authorities are demonstratinggreat vigilance since the opening of the borders. The Ministry of Health has adapted its policy. And the measures are very strict upon arrival of travelers from outside.

• Is it possible to come from a non-European country ?

Yes but flights are only from France (CDG) from Mauritius (Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam) or Reunion (Roland Garros).

• Do we have to go through Antananarivo to go to other regions? ?

Yes. Antananarivo airport is the only one open to international and regional flights.

• Are vaccinated people affected by these mandatory measures? ?

Travel conditions to Madagascar are applicable to all passengers without exception.

• If you must present a negative test 72 hours before boarding, why still take a test when arriving in Antananarivo ?
