We live in a world that is literally flooded with waste.
Alarming figures. According to estimates of the World Bank, world production of waste represents annually about 4 billion tons of waste of different kinds, a garbage truck is spilled every minute in l ’ ocean, each year, in France, 30 billions of butts end up in Nature, ….
The 15 September, 150 countries and millions of citizens coordinate their efforts for a world day of litter collection. Citizens, companies, associations, schools , communities are mobilizing to act all together the 15 September for a positive and festive day .
Our era's hinge : We don't want to increase the ecological debt for our children. Beyond waste, We must act in an emergency to limit aspects and less respectful behaviors for the environment. En 2010, on the 275 million tonnes of plastics products globally, near 10 million tonnes would be lost in nature to end up in the sea. Consequences : We are witnessing the emergence of new continents of plastic at the heart of our oceans. We are we used to this observation ? Do we really believe that the planet will absorb these increases in garbage on its own ? There is always someone to get behind ? WORLD CLEANUP DAY aims to bring together all the energies around a universal project, generate global awareness on the issue of litter. We want to ' clean up the planet in ". 1 day "., with the 150 other countries participating in the operation. We want to set in motion the largest environmental and citizen mobilization ever made for global awareness and generate a sustainable behavior change.
Madagascar, powered by Let's do it Foundation, does not escape this situation. 14 cities are mobilized.
The young International Chamber of Madagascar (JCI), partner of World Clean up Day, has met and mobilized all sectors of the community in the 14 cities where the organization operates. This initiative is part of world day of cleaning that will bring together millions of volunteers in 150 country. JCI also encourages citizens, schools, associations or companies to mobilize their efforts to clean up their respective neighborhoods.
The capital Antananarivo, hundreds of volunteers have gathered today in front of the library national Anosy to clean administrative areas.
For Mahajanga, the action began this morning at 7: 00 at the holiday resort.
