The President of the Republic has received the new resident representative of the United Nations system, Violet Kakyomya Kenyana , This day, at the Iavoloha Palace. It is a hearing for cabinet emanating from United Nations General Secretary letter delivery, Ban Ki Moon. She succeeds, Thus, at Fatma Samoura, who stayed in Madagascar from 2010 to 2015.
The new representative said : "I was received by His Excellency., The President of the Republic, who did honour to receive me at the beginning of my assumption of my office in Madagascar. The United Nations system strengthens its total commitment to assist Madagascar in the development process and the consolidation of peace. We also discussed the strong relationships that exist between the Government and the United Nations system, and I reiterated this commitment for the sake of the Malagasy population. Therefore, We will continue and work. About ODD or sustainable development goals, meetings and discussions are underway with the ministerial departments, to exit, soon, a strategic document.

Madagascar is a member of the Organization since the 20 September 1960.
The United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) is the strategic reference framework for the coordinated intervention of the United Nations system to support the Government of Madagascar in the implementation of its national priorities. Four UNDAF have been developed since 1998 until 2019dont here's the Executive summary :
“Madagascar comes out of a long political crisis that has plunged the country, for five years, in a socio-economic slump unprecedented. This situation of fragility of the institutional environment has limited prospects for reduction of poverty and poverty among the most vulnerable groups. Since 2014, follow-up to the implementation of new authorities of democratic elections, the country began a new phase of stabilizing institutions and revive the economy, to lay the foundations for more inclusive development. The challenges facing Madagascar in the short and medium term boil down to : anchor of new practices of governance and the rule of law strengthening ; reducing the socio-economic vulnerability of the eleven million people affected by extreme poverty ; improving access to quality basic social services and sustainable development of human capital ; environmental protection and mitigation of the adverse effects of climate change on vulnerable populations, as well as the prevention and management of natural disaster risk. The Government of Madagascar and the United Nations system (SNU) have jointly led the process of developing the framework of the United Nations for help in the development (UNDAF) 2015-2019, to help meet these challenges.
