Vaccination against Covid-19

The vaccination campaign against Covid-19 has started across Europe. Madagascar is not yet ready to commit to it.

The start was launched this weekend

According to information on France24.com, lhe European countries started their vaccination campaign together this weekend. A clearing on the front of the fight against Covid-19 despite the uncertainties linked to a variant of the virus.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen described the start of this campaign as “touching moment of unity”. And she added that it was okay “help us gradually return to our normal lives”.

Delivered Saturday, the first doses of vaccin Pfizer-BioNtech were injected in Italy in the morning to nurse Claudia Alivernini and professor Maria Rosaria Capobianchi, at Spallanzani Hospital in Rome. “I say it with all my heart : let's vaccinate ourselves. Situation of France

French President Emmanuel Macron recalled on Twitter that the vaccine was free and not compulsory in his country. He hoped that “reason and science (were going) guide us”, while the majority of French people (56 %) do not plan to be vaccinated against Covid-19, according to a survey.

Anyway, the vaccine was particularly awaited in France. The epidemic caused the death of more than 62 500 people. And the virus is actively circulating there, to the point that the authorities do not exclude the possibility of a future 3rd confinement.

Vaccination against Covid-19 : Madagascar is not yet ready to commit to it

Madagascar is in no hurry to vaccinate its population against Covid-19, if in France, the vaccination campaign has started. Madagascar has not yet decided to order vaccines. The World Health Organization (WHO) stated that it “supports and follows government directives”.

Sources from L’Express de Madagascar affirm, yet, that technical and financial partners “encourage the country to carry out this vaccination”. The revival of the country's economy would depend on it. “The vaccination campaign is essential, if we want to develop the country”, says a source.

The tourism sector, who is, so far, at bay, might not get up again, if we did not carry out this campaign. “How will other countries view Madagascar?, if we refuse this vaccine ? Our health system is already very underperforming. And the fact that we are not vaccinating the population against Covid-19 could have consequences on tourism. No one would want to come to us anymore. Those who go abroad will be, also, sanctioned », indicates a technician.

En phase d’observation

Madagascar would be in the observation phase. Leaders would prefer to wait for the results of this campaign before making a decision. Pending, Madagascar counts on Covid-Organics (Cvo). Based on coronavirus statistics, this remedy seems to have been effective. The country records only two hundred and sixty deaths out of seventeen thousand infected people, in nine months.
