    IRASYIKIN

A group of 8 friends and I booked a private tour with Mohamed and Camel Trekking Excursions for a 2D1N trip to the Merzouga desert from Marrakech. The Merzouga desert is definitely worth a visit, and it was a pity that we could only afford a night there. The dunes are incredible, and the landscape was very pristine in the Sahara. At night, you can clearly see the stars in the sky, and enjoy the company of the Berber people. The camel riding through the dunes of the desert to the berber camp was the highlight for me.

There are also many beautiful sceneries and stops between Marrakech and the desert, and I really enjoyed the views driving through the snow covered Atlas mountains.

I would recommend staying at least 2 nights in the Merzouga desert for a better experience of the desert, but this tour is still an excellent way to experience it if you only have very little time in Morocco. Camel trekking Excursion is one of only few companies to offer a 2D1N trip to the Merzouga, and at a very good price. They also offer 3D2N to the Merzouga, and are very flexible in terms of the itinerary.

Just make sure that you pack enough to keep you warm during the night in the desert, it can get really cold when the sun sets. Also don’t forget your cameras and extra batteries, because there are many picturesque views to capture.
