The major global players travel and tourism gathered by the Global Travel Association Coalition (CLWG) by Hôtel★★★ Restaurant gourmand Coco Lodge Majunga

The global leaders in the travel and tourism sector present a historical program for growth.

The main global players, public and private sector travel and tourism - meeting under the aegis of the Global Travel Association Coalition (CLWG) -committed themselves Thursday 16 April to advocate and to act in concert to fully unleash the potential of the sector to create jobs, to promote shared growth and promote development.

The document entitled "strengthening travel and tourism sector in the course of the next decade : programme for growth and development "., published on the occasion of the Summit of the world travel and Tourism Council, is a historic plea that identifies priority areas for action to be implemented to enable the travel and tourism sector to consolidate global economic recovery, to increase the effectiveness of the resources and to create decent jobs and economic opportunities for all.

The CLWG members committed themselves to coordinate their actions with the public authorities and the private sector to promote the facilitation of travel, the development of infrastructure, environmental sustainability and investment in human capital.
The objectives of the programme will be carried out in :

1. bringing data supported on the value and impact of the sector of travel and tourism on the impact of policy changes,

2. speaking with one voice to promote the implementation of the programme and ensure that the travel and tourism sector is a factor shared economic growth and sustainable development,

3. inviting Governments to approve national policies on tourism that align all relevant governmental agencies, While developing or strengthening the cooperation between the public and private sectors as well as cooperation and public-private coordination concerning the planning and the development of tourism at all levels.

The program is an update on the situation of these 4 critical issues and calls to action for each of them.

1. Facilitation of travel : the CLWG calls for :
a) The introduction of policies to facilitate international travel and tourism, thereby promoting the growth of exports to produce economic and social benefits around the world.

b) The expansion of transparent procedures for the granting of visas, visa waiver programs, regional agreements on visas, programs of passengers as well as procedures favouring fluid crossing the borders.

c) The use of new technologies to make travel more accessible, practical and effective, improving the safety.

2. Infrastructure development : the CLWG calls for :
a) The improvement of the air transport connectivity, railway, maritime and road by adopting appropriate regulatory frameworks, including measures for access to markets and capital in the areas of tourism, transport and trade.

b) Cooperation between public authorities and the private sector to take advantage of innovative and technological resources and thus enhance and accelerate the development of intermodality and infrastructure.

c) The establishment and strengthening of partnerships public-private to meet legislative requirements and funding for the improvement and expansion of infrastructure.

3. Environmental sustainability : the CLWG calls for :
a) Coordinate inter-agency to define and implement the means to protect the environment while promoting the growth of the sector and the related socio-economic benefits for host communities.

b) Greater transparency by establishing strong public-private partnerships designed to measure the environmental impact of tourism, and the implementation of decisions based on the facts.

c) More resources for innovation, the adoption of adequate legislation and the development of technological solutions to ensure the sustainability of the sector and minimize the environmental and social impacts harmful.

4. Investment in human capital : the CLWG calls for :
a) Increased coordination between public authorities, industry and the education sector to assess and satisfy future needs in terms of training and thus cope with global travel and tourism sector growth expected in the coming years.

b) Make the sector travel and tourism a viable career project.

c) Share best practices in terms of training and developing the training programmes for the sector.

Document "Strengthening the travel and tourism sector in the course of the next decade : programme for growth and development ". has been unveiled by three founding members of the CLWG at a press conference held in Madrid : Tony Tyler, Director general and CEO of the international air transport Association (IATA) ; Taleb Rifai, Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) ; and David Scowsill, President and CEO of the world travel and Tourism Council (WTTC).

The CLWG is currently composed of the following members :

International Association of air transport (IATA),
International civil aviation organization (ICAO),
The Asia-Pacific Travel Association (PATA),
World Economic Forum (GEF),
World Tourism Organization (UNWTO)
and world travel and Tourism Council (WTTC).
