Its different climatic zones and its variety of landscapes provide to the land of contrasts a huge tourism potential : high mountains to the fertile plains planted to rice terraces, large dry savanna to tropical forests, of 5.000 km of coastline protected in large part of reefs in the many tropical islands with white sandy beaches, spectacular limestone landscape with numerous towers of karst in various caves and underground rivers, ….

There is also a the extraordinary biodiversity with a rate of endemism very high : near 80% for the flora (black and white orchids, Palm trees, Ravinala, baobabs, Nepenthes, medicinal plants, …) and an even higher rate for wildlife. To cite just a few examples :

• More than 90% of the lemur species spread naturally to Madagascar ;
• A 250 species of birds found in the island, 106 are endemic ;
• 98% reptiles and amphibians of the country - including chameleons, geckos, crocodiles, turtles and snakes - located only in Madagascar ;
• 92% freshwater fish are also endemic while coral reefs along the coast are home to a stunning marine life.

Another attraction of the island Continent is its cultural diversity with its 18 tribes and almost as many cultures. Life styles, architectures and specific traditions derive their source of the distant origin of the Malagasy people from the Indonesia, of the India, Africa, Saudi, …. The wide variety of products and technical craft also reflects this cultural diversity.

The exceptional tourist capital of Madagascar allowed him to integrate the Islands vanilla (Maurice, Meeting, Seychelles, Madagascar) to conquer a share of the new market tourism based on the strengths and complementarity of each island. Very good news in the first week of the new year, Madagascar is currently in 4th place in the top worldwide tourist destinations for the year 2016. Travel organizers and tourism experts have been consulted by CNN and their indications, Madagascar faces even the Romania, ranked the most beautiful country in the world by the World Countries Awards 2016. This is evidence that Madagascar still possesses its natural assets to attract tourists. The benefits of this international classification will surely contribute to the promotion of tourism.

En 2016, the sector requires a budget adapted and more products.

And after the Minister of Malagasy tourism, Ulrich Agarwal, the sector would need a budget of 2 EUR million for tourism promotion 2016. It is a budget which is not yet available, but needed to take advantage of the opportunities available internationally.
Remind that for the year 2015, the budget granted by the State was 50 000 $. For the tourist promotion, It is not enough compared to the assets to operate in the big island, compared to its surface and the objectives. For example, Mauritius has allocated this year a budget of approximately 15 million for the home of a million tourists and the Seychelles, 5 EUR million for the coming of 250 000 tourists.
