The finance bill 2024 implemented a new tax on airport concessions. Apparently, it will be limited to a very small number of airports, from a certain level of turnover and margin.

The French government introduced into its finance bill to 2024 a tax on the operation of long-distance transport infrastructure, headed by airports.
However, not all airports will be affected. In order to limit protests by local communities, which still manage a number of regional airports, the project plans to limit the application of this new tax to airports whose annual operating income, excluding airport tax, exceeds 120 million euros and whose margin reaches at least 10 %.
The French Airports Union opposes this new tax
Thomas June, President of the French Airports Union (UAF), and director of La Rochelle airport are totally opposed to this new tax. He denounces “a blow to the airline sector as it barely emerges from an unprecedented crisis”.
The National Federation of Aviation and its Professions (FNAM), bringing together the French aviation sector, also opposes this government plan to introduce a new tax on French air transport. The aerial “already bears a lot of taxes and royalties, contrary to what is said”, explained the president of the National Federation of Aviation and its professions.
