No more traffic jams, Place at the cable car

The cable car marks a historic turning point for Antananarivo. After long months of waiting, residents will be able to borrow it from the 16 August 2025. This innovative project promises to lastingly transform mobility in the capital.

Cable car : gradual launch

It's official : Antananarivo cable transport will open its doors to the public from the 16 August 2025, The day after its official inauguration at the SADC summit.

For the sake of adaptation, This opening will be progressive, with a limited operation with two daily time slots : from 07h at 9 a.m., then 16h at 6 p.m. in the afternoon.

This trial period will last about two months. Its objective is to allow users to familiarize themselves with this new mode of transport, still unpublished in Antananarivo. During this phase, The cabins will be fed by a generator, While waiting for their complete connection to the national network of JIRAMA. The line will link in particular Anosy to Ambatobe, by the way The City and Soarano. The journey between Anosy and Soarano can thus be done in just 10 minutes, Against more than an hour by car during rush hour.

Despite partial commissioning, The work has not yet been completed. The Senvh indicate that Several sites continue in parallel. They concern the electrical connection, the creation of an operating company and the training of staff.

This last aspect is deemed crucial to guarantee a reliable service, secure and in accordance with international standards. Practical details, like final prices and full schedules, will gradually be communicated. The government promises transparency at each stage of the project.

Cable transport in Antananarivo arouses great interest thanks to its many advantages. It allows traffic jams, to offer a quick journey and accessible, while respecting the environment. The Malagasy capital is thus preparing to adopt a sustainable urban transport model, with caution but determination.
