Beginning of rehabilitation of the RN6
Beginning of rehabilitation of the RN6
Highly anticipated for years by the local population, the beginning of the rehabilitation of the RN6 finally sees the light of day. Good news for tourism.
One day instead of 03h
Almost a day. This is the duration of the Ambanja – Diégo journey currently. The road in poor condition slows down traffic considerably and by extension, blocks the development of the Diana Region. “When this road will be rehabilitated, This trip will take place around 3 hours only », President Andry Rajoelina said yesterday.
Indeed, the first day of President Andry Rajoelina's visit to Antsiranana was marked by the inauguration of numerous road infrastructures in the city center of the capital of the Diana Region, but also and mostly, by the official launch of the rehabilitation works of the national road number 6 reliant Ambanja - Diego.
Nightmare and brake on development
For several years, this road was the nightmare of the people of the North. And it was a brake on the development of the Diana Region. Accompanied by his wife Mialy Rajoelina, Prime Minister Ntsay Christian, of some members of the government, of the Vice-President of the National Assembly Jocelyne Rahelihanta, of the Ambassador of the European Union, Giovanni Di Girolamo, as well as local authorities, the Head of State kicked off the work.
235 $ million
The implementation of the project will be ensured by the company COLAS. The project involves the rehabilitation of 233 kilometers of road that will be fully paved. To hear the explanations of the President of the Republic, the cost of building the RN6 is 235 million of which 120 million dollars in loans from the European Investment Bank and 115 million dollars in donations from the European Union.
He also called the officials of the COLAS Company to work fast and work well to ensure the sustainability of the Ambanja – Diégo road.
Opening up the Diana Region
He also did not fail to thank the Ambassador of the European Union who was personally involved in this project.. By the way, the latter considers that this national road number 6 is not just a road but a major work of civil engineering. Giovanni Di Girolamo is also proud to have contributed to the process of opening up the Diana Region. “It will change people’s lives”, He supported. In any case, President Andry Rajoelina did not hide his satisfaction with the realization of this project considered as one of the great achievements, with the RN44 connecting Moramanga - Ambatondrazaka, the Barea Mahamasina stadium and the RN13 Ihosy – Fort Dauphin, the construction of which will also begin shortly. On this occasion, the number one of Iavoloha witnessed the first blades of the RN6.
The Head of State also inaugurated several newly built road infrastructures in the city center of Diégo. At each stage of his marathon day, President Andry Rajoelina has continued to make known his ambition to write history by carrying out various major projects, having a direct impact on the socio-economic life of the population.
