Covid-19 : Answers to frequently asked questions
The next speech will take place this Sunday 25 July at 8:00 p.m. (Madagascar Time).
2. Are there flights landing in Madagascar? ? If Yes, which companies ?
Indeed, there are flights from outside that land in Madagascar. But these are either des vols de rapatriement, either cargo flights. These are in particular the companies Air France, Air Austral et Air Madagascar who carry out these flights.
Apart from that, there are also domestic flights that the Tsaradia company operates within the country. Because regional borders are wide open on the big island.
3. Repatriation flights ?
The French Embassy continues its work of organizing special flights to Paris in close collaboration with Air France and the Malagasy authorities.
It's not only NON. C’est le cas, for people with a valid resident card and even for those who are already vaccinated. The Malagasy government does not allow anyone to return to the country, except for persons provided for by decree.
These are the diplomats, experts commissioned by the government, Malagasy athletes who participated in international competitions and civil servants dispatched by the administration. They are the only people who will be able to return to the country while the borders still remain closed for other travel reasons..
These arrangements were made, according to Prime Minister Christian Ntsay, to protect the country against contamination from the Delta variant which, currently, gaining ground in Europe.
5. I was vaccinated Covishield, what is the situation regarding its recognition in Europe ?
Announced in a press release from the Prime Minister on 17 July 2021, the vaccine Covishield, whose composition and manufacturing process are similar to those of the Vaxzevria vaccine from the AstraZeneca laboratory, is now recognized for the health pass. This is good news for all those who have been vaccinated in Madagascar by the services of the Ministry of Public Health.
This recognition allows people vaccinated in Madagascar by two doses of this vaccine to validate their vaccination course and obtain a Health Pass.
For those who have wondered if, having already been vaccinated with an unrecognized vaccine, if they could be vaccinated again with another vaccine that is recognized. The answer is YES. But, this is no longer necessary since Covishield is already valid to obtain the Health Pass.
6. Where can you make an appointment to get vaccinated? ?
The vaccine will be the “only way to protect populations, to save lives and get out of the pandemic”, said Christophe Bouchard, Ambassador of France to Madagascar.
In his speech on 14 July 2021, he officially confirmed that the French health authorities have given their agreement to lower 55 to 18 years the threshold for vaccination with the Janssen vaccine.
French or other Europeans and their spouse under 55 years can therefore make an appointment by telephone at 032 50 000 22 (Center of Charmilles).
