Contest to travellers to promote sustainable tourism launched by UNWTO.
In preparation for the world day of tourism and to promote responsible travel, the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has launched a contest open to travelers. This initiative is part of the 'Travel.Enjoy.Respect' campaign (Voyage.apprecie.respecte) in respect of the international year of sustainable tourism for development (2017). The winner of the contest will be offered a trip around the world in search of sustainable tourism initiatives.
"Every move counts and travellers have a big role to play in making the tourism sector a more sustainable sector. When a simple gesture is repeated millions of times, it is easy to imagine the impact," said the UNWTO Secretary-General, Taleb Rifai. "We want to encourage all travellers to be themselves vectors of change that they want to see happen in the world. »
Participants in the competition are invited to share their travel experiences on the site www.travelenjoyrespect.org explaining how they would make a good representative of the "responsible traveller" figure in the world.
This trip will start at the headquarters of the World Tourism Organization, in Madrid, by the official ceremony in the presence of the Secretary-General. It will end at the closing ceremony of the international year of sustainable tourism for development (2017) in Geneva (Switzerland), where will be the actors of the tourism community and organizations of the United Nations.
During his trip around the world, the winner of the contest will be supported by Explore World Wide, group adventure travel offers a wide range of activities and experiences and achievements in the cause of responsible tourism, with the "Explore" spirit that characterizes him.
