Mayotte : already a year in health restrictions
It's already been a year since the world as we knew it is no longer exactly the same. A year since we (Mayotte and Madagascar) we are separated, but we stay together ! And we'll get through this together !
A Coco Lodge Great, we are thinking of you, We miss you and hope you are all safe. We are like you, cut off from the world, far and yet so close. We are holding on and we are doing everything we can to survive, for tomorrow, because this world will return to normal, It's certain !
We must hold on and when our borders finally reopen, that our planes will fly again, then it will be time to hold each other very tight, to live again FINALLY 🙂.

A year of accumulation of deprivations and restrictions, to the great dismay of a freedom that we no longer even imagine. But also a year that we are all actively fighting against this never-ending virus.
A parenthesis that is far too long and which we would never have imagined would be possible.
One year already, that it’s long and unfortunately it’s not over…
To the 15 last March, the first ax fell on Mayotte.
One total confinement of the population took effect from 17 March, a national first that many seemed skeptical about, and even more so in Mayotte where the living and housing conditions of the population made such a measure surreal...and yet...
A few days later, the 28 March, things were getting even more serious, with the closure of Dzaoudzi airport, and the cancellation of the last flight to Paris.
The lagoon island was confined.
We only had to wait until two days later for the epidemic to appear very real to everyone..
01ER death on 30 March 2020.
To the 30 March 2020, the coronavirus claimed its first victim in Mayotte, and the bar 100 patients arrived quickly…
Then things got complicated.
The 4 may, there were already more than 650 proven cases of Covid19. Yet, the 11 May marked the end of confinement, in mainland France...
In Mayotte it is 18 but that the constraints will gradually begin to loosen.
To the 23 June, commercial flights could finally resume, the reopening of the airport was validated by the Government, with a very gradual resumption of connections.
But it didn't last...
To the 24 January, some saw in the start of the vaccination campaign a small glimmer of hope. However, the campaign will not achieve the success achieved, and the populations affected by vaccination were not there.
Reconfinement !
And finally, the 5 last February, Mayotte was reconfined. But after a month and despite the numbers starting to fall after an exponential peak, the prefect of Mayotte decided to extend the confinement by two weeks, and this until Monday 15 March. A date which sounds strangely symbolic since it has already been 1 year that everyone lives in tune with an unprecedented crisis, which will still have made approximately 137 Death.
A year that no one would have imagined and which, we hope so, will not be the first of a long series…
HOPE, we all have hope of finding a better world without coronavirus...
