How to recycle (generously) the empty beds of tourism by Hotel★★★ gourmet RESTAURANT COCO LODGE MAJUNGA
I'm leaving, you leave, he leaves. This is the foundation through which partner companies can donate weeks of vacation to disadvantaged families..
A generous idea, that a tourism boss wants to share with his peers.
In France, about 4 French on 10 give up going on vacation, often due to lack of money. Gold every year, even in peak season, beds remain empty. A form of waste which, in the age of the sharing economy, is a rather untenable idea.. Waste, By the way, sometimes has bad grace in our consumer society : under penalty of sanction, supermarkets no longer have the right to throw away unsold food. In the same spirit, will travel stakeholders be forced to, one day, to fill their unoccupied beds, with holidaymakers graciously accommodated ?
Objective, 1000 free departures in 2016
Without waiting for this fanciful hypothesis, Germain Lelarge, CEO-founder of the TO-distributor France from North to South, decided to set up a foundation, in the form of an endowment fund. I'm leaving, you leave, he leaves was officially born in February 2015, with an explicit slogan, which recalls the values of social tourism : “Set, let's contribute to the holidays for all”.
Its objective is to remove 1000 families on vacation in 2016, via partnerships with tourism players planning France, even foreign destinations. For the time being, Interhome and Odalys embark on the adventure. “Each of the two actors committed to giving a few weeks” unsold to deprived families, selected with the complicity of local associations.
“The idea, is to launch a chain of solidarity to reduce a little, set, to social fractures, explains Germain Lelarge. The fund allows us to open our action to other tourism professionals, to be more ambitious”.
France from North to South engaged since 2008
France from North to South is not at its first trial run. Since 2008, the company gives a helping hand to disadvantaged families. “We harvested 130 000 EUR, that we gave to Secours Catholique, to leave approximately 200 children”.
How ? Thanks to a module installed on its reservation page, the TO offers its customers the opportunity to add a micro-donation (1€ for example) to the amount of their basket. For each microdonation, the company contributes the same amount (i.e. 1€ in this example), and thus associates itself with gesture of solidarity from the traveler.
In addition to making donations during vacation weeks or in cash (tax-exempt), partner companies of the endowment fund can also add this program to their merchant site.
