Madagascar wishes to open its airspace, via new connections to the island, to foreign companies.
The Malagasy government and the staff of the Air Madagascar company thus concluded an agreement with representations of foreign companies in this direction.
Air Madagascar : new connections to face competition
In order to face competition, the Malagasy airline, Air Madagascar, launches new connections to the island, in collaboration with foreign companies. The Malagasy state has raised the possibility of facilitating access to internal roads. For Ulrich Andriantiana, Minister of tourism, it becomes necessary to reduce the monopoly of the Malagasy airline on certain international routes and domestic lines landing at Ivato airport. It is in fact noted that the Malagasy company is in difficulty on the routes it provides alone.
To solve this problem and face the competition, it is essential for Air Madagascar to let foreign companies operate some connections on the island. The Open Sky project is the best solution to boost the Malagasy airline as much as possible. This is a memorandum of understanding signed between the general management, representatives of the board of directors and staff of the Malagasy airline, guaranteeing the competitiveness of Madagascarr.
Opening of Madagascar to Air Seychelles
Thanks to the agreement signed between the Malagasy government and managers of foreign companies, foreign airlines will now operate international and domestic routes. The Air Seychelles company therefore offers Madagascar as a destination country.. The latter provides direct flights, connecting Mahé and the Malagasy capital, Antananarivo, since the 3 December 2014.
The Seychellois company chose Madagascar in its economic recovery strategy continued to the development of Malagasy ecotourism and new foreign investments from which Madagascar benefits. The objective of the Seychellois airline is to meet the increasing demand for tourism and business travel to the Big Island.
