Health : the operation “SMILE” reinforced by Hotel and gourmet restaurant coconut Lodge Majunga

Since its launch in 2007, operation smile has consulted more than three thousand eight hundred people and operated one thousand nine hundred and forty children and adults.
For the twelfth time, a medical team from Operation Smile supports and operates free children with cleft lip and/or palate clefts, or other facial malformations.

Operation Smile was, last month, in his 12th mission to Madagascar. The 4 to the 11 September, 165 patients were received in consultation with 118, operated. Among them, 63 cases of cleft lip and 45, cleft palate while 10 others are cases requiring a facial correction. Since 2007, year of his first mission to Madagascar, the Operation Smile conducted more than 1 550 free surgeries for children and young adults born with cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial malformations including in Antananarivo, Antsirabe and Toamasina.

Volunteer network. This vast operation for children living with a facial deformity, for decades, an international dimension because Operation Smile is today conducted in more of 60 country. Its origin dates back to the years 80 on an initiative of the spouses William and Kathleen Magee, following a visit to the Philippines where they had seen the distress of people and especially of children with these facial deformities. Today, Operation Smile has become an international medical charity organization with a network of thousands of volunteers medical accredited engaged to assist and improve the health and lives of children.

Boost. During his last mission to Madagascar, in September, Operation Smile has benefited from the support of the STAR group which responded to its request for partnership to help its volunteers in support and the realization of consultations and surgical operations. It is in this context that 3 000 bottles of soft drinks were available to patients of the Operation Smile. A participation which strengthens those already proposed for several years by the Group, by providing cooling to patients during consultations.
