First departures for the Antananarivo urban train

With the urban train, Antananarivo now offers a smoother means of transport, fast and accessible for its inhabitants.

The train started this Monday

Monday morning at 7:30 a.m., the Antananarivo urban train has officially left the Soarano station. On board, guests from institutions and project partners attended this symbolic departure. This symbolic departure marks several months of preparations and technical tests.

A few days earlier, the Ministry of Transport and Meteorology, with Madarail, had carried out a pre-launch test. This was deemed conclusive by those responsible.
According to officials, the staff in charge of operating the train have mastered the safety and operating procedures. This confirms that all technical and logistical conditions are now met.

This official launch marks an important step in the modernization of urban public transport. It aims to reduce traffic jams, to facilitate travel and offer a reliable alternative to users.

A service now open to the public

The opening to the public takes place this Tuesday, with a first departure scheduled at 5a.m. Since Soarano destined forAmbohimanambola. To start, the train will provide two round trips each day. The first will leave 5o'clock in the morning and the second at 5.30 p.m., to meet the needs of workers and students. The urban train route extends over 16 kilometers and serves ten stations.
