Repatriation flights

On the occasion of the end of year celebrations, the government organizes special flights for Madagascar. It is therefore a partial reopening of the borders for repatriation trips, family reunification or professional obligations, under certain conditionsAcm (Civil Aviation of Madagascar).

Partial reopening of borders

Depuis le 12 December 2020 until the 16 January 2021, the government authorized the partial reopening of the borders for “compelling reasons”. Repatriation trips, family reunification and professional obligations.

Flights from Antananarivo to Paris continue for 16 and 21 December and the 5 and 12 January 2021. According to the Air Madagascar website, these flights departing from Antananarivo present some constraints insofar as they are flights via Geneva and from there, passengers must take the train to Paris.

However, they indicated that this train journey is already included in the ticket price. The company Air Madagascar plans to still operate flights from Paris to Antananarivo, the 19 and 22 December and the 9 and 16 January 2021.

The presentation of a negative PCR test carried out 72 hours before the flight is required, just asanother additional test on arrival in Madagascar. Passengers are also required in confinement in hotel establishments of their choice, until PCR test results are obtained. And we invite them themselves to make the reservation and carry out the transfer from Ivato airport.

Reach Madagascar via Nosy Be

Air France is also planned to operate special flights. Civil Aviation of Madagascar (Acm) lays down rules regarding entry into the territory. Malagasy nationals holding a valid passport or foreigners holding a valid resident card must contact airlines operating in Madagascar directly..

They have the choice of joining the country with Malagasy and French airlines., or on those which serve Nosy Be by commercial flights such as Air Austral, Ewa Air and Ethiopian Airlines. Foreigners without a resident card wishing to go to Madagascar can only do tourism in Nosy be. On condition that these tourists do not come from 16 countries listed by the ACM on 6 last November, as not authorized to board passengers to the Big Island. These foreign tourists cannot leave the island of perfume either.

On the other hand,, Malagasy people and residents can pass through Nosy Be and reach the mainland. Entry of diplomatic and similar personnel, the missionaries, NGO representatives, requires authorization from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Foreign investors and workers, holders of an authorization duly issued by the Ministry of Civil Service and Social Laws must request authorization from the Ministry of Industry, commerce and crafts. “Requests for authorization concerning family reunification should be sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs depending on the category of the main beneficiary” underlines the ACM press release. Exiting the territory by air does not require any particular formalities.
