Good news for Madagascar's tourism sector. Turkish Airlines will operate a second weekly frequency between Antananarivo and Istanbul from 15 June 2023.
Türkiye – Madagascar : Turkish Airlines will increase to two flights per week
The Big Island is currently receiving more international flights. In this connection, the Turkish ambassador announced that Turkish Airlines will set up a second weekly flight between Antananarivo and Istanbul from 15 June next. The information was announced during the launch of the Turkish Culinary Week on Sunday in Ivandry.
This new frequency will be held every Thursday. The plane will first stop in Mauritius before reaching the Turkish capital. Currently, Turkish Airlines only offers one scheduled flight per week between Antananarivo and Istanbul every Saturday and it will operate 02 weekly flights, in particular every Thursday and Saturday from 15 June 2023.
Turkish Airlines : Why not a third flight ?
According to the Ambassador, the current frequency is “insufficient” and can no longer meet demand. In case of increased attendance, a third flight could be considered in the future concludes the diplomat.
For the Confederation of Tourism of Madagascar, all this is part of the improvement of the air transport offer in accordance with the strategy of the private tourism sector for the development of the destination.
Companies serving Madagascar
The Malagasy authorities have currently authorized more airlines to serve Madagascar, namely Madagascar Airlines, Air France, Air Mauritius, Air Austral, Neos Air, Ewa Air, Ethiopian Airlines, Kenya Airways et Turkish Airlines.
This resumption of flights will ensure “better connectivity”. And will allow more “competitiveness” between airlines.
