Meeting : Statistics on the resumption of aviation activities

With the current epidemic, air transport has suffered a lot. Restriction measures, closed borders and canceled flights made a knee put on the ground in the sector, thus the statistics of aviation activities clearly show a decline since the resumption of flights.

Services to mainland France and Mayotte

Saint Denis-Roland Garros airport welcomed 1,18 million passengers in 2021, i.e. half as much as in 2019 but 13,5% more than in 2020. This is obviously covid logic which is implacable.

Nevertheless, the recovery trend is confirmed in particular on services to mainland France and Mayotte, from July.

Regional traffic in Mauritius, Madagascar, Seychelles, Comoros and South Africa, remains disrupted by the numerous travel restrictions linked to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Statistics on long-haul flights to and from Reunion

Long-haul traffic between metropolitan airports (Paris-CDG and Orly, Lyon and Marseille) and Reunion accounted for nearly 84% of total activity at Roland Garros airport, against 59% en 2019.

On the Réunion-Mayotte line, now operated by three companies (Air Austral, Corsair et Ewa Air, the number of passengers remained lower by 19% to that of 2019 but increased significantly compared to 2020 with 135 262 passengers.

Air Austral : Meeting – Madagascar

Currently, Air Austral connects Réunion – Tana with two weekly rotations in Airbus A220.

To illustrate the crisis, only 6280 passengers traveled to Madagascar from Réunion.
