More ATR planes 72-500 to strengthen the Tsaradia fleet

In the coming months, Madagascar Airlines aims to achieve operational excellence by integrating more and more ATR type aircraft 72-500 to strengthen its fleet.

The national company is banking on the potential of ATRs 72-500. To do this, Tsaradia's ATR fleet will be reinforced with new aircraft arriving in the coming months.

This is a homogeneous fleet composed exclusively of this type of device., the ATRs 72-500. At present, Tsaradia operates three aircraft : two ATRs and a DASH type aircraft 8 Q400, leased to the South African company CemAir. As such, the latter aircraft was chartered to meet demand during the peak tourist season.

Adjustments are planned

A third aircraft for their own account should leave the repair shops shortly. “Another plane is scheduled to arrive at the end of July or mid-August”. All this aims to have five operational aircraft by September. In addition, a sixth plane is also planned for 2025, which will allow the fleet to exploit at least internal air links and prevent Tsaradia from floundering further in the swamps of inefficiency.

The company plans to dispose of expensive planes and repair those requiring maintenance.

Madagascar Airlines benefits from support from the World Bank to support its recovery. In a letter addressed to the Madagascar Business Group, the World Bank would have offered to finance up to 60 million dollars for all investments for the recovery plan.
