Long track : Mayotte face an Aerian decisive turning point
The long track project in Mayotte raises many concerns. He is deemed crucial to ensure territorial continuity and the air future of the island.
Senator Saïd Omar Oili (S2O) calls on the government to become aware in the management of this vital dossier.
Long track : A key project slowed down by the lack of transparency
For more than three decades, The question of a long track in Mayotte is a recurring subject. En 2012, A government decision had been made to advance this strategic project. However, blockages persist despite this initiative.
In a letter to the Minister of Transport, S2O denounces a lack of transparency in the process. He also criticizes the attitude of the DGAC (Directorate General of Civil Aviation), accused of not respecting ministerial instructions. Since January 2023, No meeting of the steering committee took place, and the information available is insufficient.
Technical decisions questioned and neglected expertise
The DGAC recently made a unilateral decision by rejecting the Small Terre extension scenario, for the benefit of Grande Terre, by invoking natural risks. This decision was made without prior consultation or official communication with the national public debate commission (CNDP).
S2O expresses its astonishment in the face of the absence of scientific consultation on such a file. The stability of the territory, especially due to the seismo-volcanic risks linked to the Fani Maoré volcano, is at the heart of the issues.
In December 2024, Experts from the Revosima network have indicated a low probability of major eruption, But have stressed great uncertainty. The absence of experts' consultation before this decision raises questions about the validity of the chosen scenario.
Long track : Mayotte in front of an uncertain aerial
The S2O senator warns against the dramatic consequences of an additional delay. From here 2035, The current track could become unusable, Mayotte insulating from the rest of the world. This situation would compromise not only the safety of travel, but also the economic development of the island.
For Saïd Omar Oili, Concrete decisions must be taken quickly, supported by rigorous planning. Mayotte, already faced with many challenges, cannot afford additional isolation. The construction of a long track is essential to guarantee the secure and connected future of the island.
