New laboratory and pharmaceutical factory in Madagascar
During the speech of the President of the Republic on Sunday 17 may, he announced that a laboratory and a pharmaceutical factory will be inaugurated in Madagascar. The goal is to help with coronavirus screening and to produce more of the CVO remedy.
Before the National Day
Inauguration is planned before the national holiday. It is a purely Malagasy laboratory, for The Malagasy, as announced by the President.
This upcoming inauguration will mark the 60th anniversary of Madagascar's return to independence. In his speech, Andry Rajoelina has put a lot of emphasis on Madagascar's independence. “That true independence is demonstrated in the decisions taken and the work for the development of the country”.
He wanted to make it clear that the health crisis that the world is currently going through must be an opportunity for the country to assert its identity and live its independence to the fullest.
It should be noted that a screening centre, the Laboratory d’Medical analysis of Madagascar – LA2M-, has just been introduced on the Androhibe side. This facility was built in 2018. It was in the days of the old regime. But this laboratory has never been operational. It may be the institution in question.
Perform more tests and produce more CVO
The aim of this initiative would be to support the Pasteur Institute of Madagascar -IPM- and increase the capacity to carry out PCR tests to support the fight against coronavirus.
The Pasteur Institute of Madagascar currently carries out about 150 daily screenings. But this new laboratory will be able to make 350 to 700 PCR tests per day.
In preparation for the opening of this laboratory, The Pasteur Institute of Madagascar has provided training for several technicians. They also trained malagasy biologists.
A pharmaceutical plant will also be opened to manufacture Covid-Organics. President Andry Rajoelina has already announced this long before. Work is already under way to implement this project.
State of health emergency and partial containment maintained
Partial containment in Analamanga regions, Matsiatra Ambony and Antsinanana will be maintained for a fortnight more. It is a measure that also applies, at the Alaotra Mangoro region. These regions have recently been infected with the virus.
Similarly, the health emergency has been extended for more than a fortnight since the Council of Ministers on Saturday 16 may 2020. Therefore, the measures in force over the past fortnight remain in force, including, for areas in confinement.
The President of the Republic demands rigour in the prohibition of exit and entry into areas in confinement.
The public is called upon to think about the public interest. We must not think that we. Let's respect all barrier measures, strictest.
Limit contacts to basic needs, wear masks and wear them properly. And especially, Wash your butting frequently. Protect yourself and others.
