Mayotte and Madagascar : Strengthening air and sea connections

A delegation from the Madintex group from Mayotte met yesterday with 29 January 2024 the Minister of Transport and Meteorology and his team. Thus, air freight and direct flights linking Madagascar and Mayotte were once again at the center of discussions.

Strengthening links between Mayotte and Madagascar

During the trip of its representatives to Madagascar, this subject had already been raised by the Mahorais departmental council last year. The Journal de Mayotte reported that they had already at the time asked Minister Valery Ramonjavelo for the reestablishment by Madagascar Airlines of the direct air link between Dzaoudzi and Antananarivo.

In the current era, Madagascar is connected to Mayotte by the company Ewa Air, subsidiary of Air Austral. This mainly connects Dzaoudzi to Mahajanga, Nosy Be and Antsiranana.

Two important sectors

For the airline sector, view that Madagascar has various natural resources (fish, fruits and vegetables), potentialities that the region could benefit from. And put direct flights, also air freight could promote trade and tourism.
