Majunga in celebration : Seafood Festival

This 05, 06 and 13 July 2024, an unmissable tourist event will take place in Majunga. The town of Majunga will celebrate with the seafood festival.

The seafood festival

Mahajanga is the first Malagasy fishing port given the volume of fishing activities that take place there (Fishing, Treatment, commercialisation …). The region has very great natural potential in fisheries resources.. It is estimated that more than 7 000 tons of seafood come out of Mahajanga every year, in addition to local consumption.

It aims to highlight the fishing resources of Mahajanga and its Boeny region.. This is to put the spotlight on large exporting companies., traditional fishermen, fishmongers and other players in this sector and to highlight the culinary art and professionalism of Mahajanga restaurateurs.

Entertainment will be planned during the festival

The sporting event LOMAY BE » will take place on Saturday 06 July 2024. The sporting event LOMAY BE », is organized in partnership with the Regional Athletics League, will thus bring together types of races adapted to the level of each participant : marche, zumba, running, cafe waiter race.

“MAJUNGA EN FÊTE” aims to be :

• A festive meeting, popular and unmissable in Mahajanga ;
• A tool to revive the Majungese tourism economy ;
• A factor of rapprochement between public and private entities and the Majungese population ;
• A vehicle for promoting the Majungaise tourist destination ;
• An opportunity to bring together different events promoting knowledge and mutual recognition while respecting the diversity and specificities of each person..

The objective of the event is to :

• Bring together a set of events with a set of partners to promote cultural diversity, gourmet, musical, Sports, etc. Mahajanga
• Allow the citizens of the City of Flowers and the people who pass through to experience a festive atmosphere in the heart of great diversity
• Promote the Majungaise destination and ensure its notoriety as a popular destination for vacationers

To the program :

Friday 05 July :

• Matin : Opening and conference on tourism, fishing and the blue economy at the Majunga Chamber of Commerce, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
• Afternoon : Cleaning of the tourist village beach at 4 p.m.

Saturday 06 July :

Matin :

• Walking 5 km (Itinerary : tourist village/Baobab on the edge/ Bonnet/Sacred wood/airplane/mahavoky university hospital/tourist village)
• Zumba
• 5km race

Afternoon :

• COFFEE BOY RACE : waiters and waitresses from ORTB member establishments
• Official opening of the fifth edition of the Seafood Festival
• Stand d’animation : promotion and tasting ; sponsors and partners stand

Saturday 13 July :

• Tourism evening hosted by : ARTISTE / Team’s Music and traditional dances

The " tourism evening » was initiated by the members of the Board of Directors of the Majunga Tourist Office.

This festival brings together a set of events and festive activities in Mahajanga to start the summer holiday season in Majunga. A tourist event, festive and popular bringing together a diversity of activities.

Its objective is to bring together the tourist operators of Majunga around a common festive event to create a common synergy, promote the culinary specialties of Majunga restaurateurs through buffets and menus…

The restaurateurs of Mahajanga are thus the main actors of the event including #CocoLodgeMajunga.
