Madagascar : a new Master University ecotourism put in place
The University of Toliara, in collaboration with the CCD ARES of Belgium, have set up a Master University Inter in ecotourism and organic management in Madagascar. After the signing of the agreement between the two entities in June 2017, the project will officially begin.
This new training program is intended to train professionals of ecotourism and organic management. It responds to the development of ecotourism, which is becoming increasingly important in the region. The base of the training should allow the candidates to develop skills in the areas of languages (especially the french and English), Ecology and biodiversity, management and management.
The Interuniversity Master will call on a team of about 20 teachers composed of representatives of the University of Toliara, mainly fishing and Science Institute marine, the faculties of science, Faculty of law economics management and sociology of the Antananarivo, of four French-speaking universities in Belgium (University of Mons, ULB, ULG, UCL) and the University of Geneva.
30 students annually from all of Madagascar and neighbouring countries in developing regions will come out of this training from the 2nd year. This program is open to students with a tray + 3 Tourism, in Natural Sciences or with a diploma equivalent. A maximum of 50% Malagasy students will benefit from a scholarship. In General, the arrival of these professionals for themselves a wide audience will facilitate better management of the environment and natural resources in Madagascar.
For more precision, the term "ecotourism" is used to refer to forms of tourism that have the following features :
All forms of tourism based on the nature in which the main motivation for the tourists is the observation and the enjoyment of nature as well as traditional cultures prevailing in natural areas.
This form of integrated tourism educational characteristics and interpretation of the environment.
It is usually, but not exclusively, organized for small groups of people by specialized tour operators. The service to the destination provider partners are generally local small businesses.
It minimizes the negative impacts on the natural and socio-cultural environment.
It contributes to the protection of natural areas used as ecotourism interests :
- Being source of economic benefits communities, the organizations and authorities of the region host the preservation of natural areas ;
- Creating jobs and revenue for local communities opportunities ;
