Madagascar – Host country of the next AviaDev Africa
Fifth edition of the AviaDev Africa conference in Madagascar
Madagascar – Host country of the next AviaDev Africa. Madagascar to host fifth edition of AviaDev Africa conference. The conference will take place in the capital of 6 to the 8 may 2020.
To top off The Great Island's Airport Infrastructure Efforts, the meeting will be a springboard to rank the country among the best destinations for business and luxury tourism in the Indian Ocean.
Considered Africa's largest aviation event, AviaDev Africa will bring together airlines, airports and tourism stakeholders to discuss the growing traffic from and to the African continent. Major players in the aviation sector in Madagascar such as Ravinala Airports, manager of Antananarivo and Nosy Be airports, strongly support the hosting of this international meeting.
A strategic partnership for more connectivity
By partnering with Ravinala Airports, AviaDev Africa benefits from the launches of world-class airport structures. Indeed, Ravinala Airports has invested more than 200 EUR million, as manager of the international airports of Ivato and Nosy Be, for the renovation of these infrastructures. Combining this with the installation of large hotel groups. Vast opportunities will open up in Madagascar for exploiting partnerships improving connectivity from the Big Island to the entire world. Air access being the most important route of arrival for tourists.
This opening could generate more 1.000 direct and indirect jobs. “Madagascar is the ideal country to host this prestigious event as the largest island in the Indian Ocean. This will make it possible to achieve the objectives in terms of tourist arrivals and job creation.. Which will stimulate the local economy,” says Jon Howell, the General Director of AviaDev.
After the “Wave Madagascar” forum which took place from 17 to the 20 September 2019, the Ministry of Transport, tourism and meteorology (MTTM) is committed to achieving the 500.000 tourists per year on the horizon 2025.
Many measures have been taken to achieve this objective, such as the establishment of the “ open sky ». This will allow more service to foreign companies, thus stimulating economic development, social and cultural of Madagascar.
Thanks to AviaDev Africa, partnerships for new air connections could be developed. Indeed, since its creation, the event was a catalyst for several partnerships optimizing traffic within major international airports in Africa. For example, the operation by Mango of a new route since July 2019. It connects Lanseria International Airport to Port Elisabeth. Or the Kigali-Harare-Cape Town connection served by RwandAir from 2018.
An island with a tourist destination
In addition, thanks to the development of the hotel sector, Madagascar is among the most popular destinations in terms of business tourism in the African and India-Oceanic region.. Madagascar is now better equipped to meet the demand of professionals traveling for international meetings, thanks to a broad and diversified offer.
