Two new tourist visa extension sites have just been set up by the Ministry of Public Security in the region of Ihorombe and Menabe.

Less travel for tourists staying in the Ihorombe or Menabe region. The Ministry of Tourism has just announced the establishment, by the Ministry of Public Security new visa extension sites in these two regions.

These two tourist visa extension sites are added to the nine existing sites in Antananarivo, Antsiranana, Nosy Be, Mahajanga, Toamasina, Nosy Boraha, Fianarantsoa, Toliara and Taolagnaro.

Indeed, tourists, visiting these regions and its surroundings can thus go to the offices of the immigration service to extend their residence visa in Madagascar.

One million international tourists from here 2028

According to the Ministry of Tourism, this initiative is still part of the Malagasy government's policy aimed at attracting one million international tourists from here 2028. Tourists can stay on the Big Island for 90 days. An initial visa of 60 days is delivered at the airport or via an online request on the website evisamada-mg.com and the 30 last days may then be subject to an extension.

Statistics for the month of October 2023

A beneficial month of October for tourist activities in Madagascar. The Big Island recorded 185 824 tourists during the first ten months of the year. With a peak of 28 456 tourists in October, according to data from the Ministry of Tourism.

The ministry has thus identified more than 6 400 more tourists, compared to the same period in 2022. Madagascar should still attract 4 000 tourists to regain its attendance performance in October 2019.
