Madagascar : The health situation is improving

Covid-19 in Madagascar : The health situation is improving in the country. But the state of health emergency remains. And international borders are currently closed. The government will give us news soon.

Extension of the state of health emergency

Despite a considerable drop in positive cases and the number of deaths, vigilance is still required, given that we are in the middle of the winter season. And this, to avoid a resurgence of this contagious disease.

There has been no major change in the arrangements to be made regarding Covid-19. In his speech yesterday to the nation, Prime Minister Christian Ntsay, however, announced certain provisions. Lighter measures were notably taken. The state of health emergency was once again extended by 15 days.

As for public demonstrations, they went from 200 to 400 people. The curfew has been moved back by an hour, if before, it was from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m., it went from midnight to 4 a.m.. In addition, the organization of events and shows is permitted throughout the territory, with the exception of the capital, Fianarantsoa I, Hydrate us, Ambatondrazaka, Avaradrano and Atsimondrano.

And the reopening of the borders ?

Madagascar's borders remain closed to passengers coming from abroad. Nevertheless, state missionaries, diplomats, experts from strategic industries working with the Malagasy State, athletes who represent Madagascar in international competitions can enter and leave the country in strict compliance with the health protocol put in place.

Officials are studying the evolution of the health situation in Madagascar and abroad, and the decision on whether to open the borders or not is expected after the new 15 days of state of health emergency.

The authorities are currently observing the evolution of cases in other countries and will make a decision in 15 days.

But domestic flights continue with an antigen test 3 take-off times which still remains in effect.

Vaccine in Madagascar : No problem

Most of the Prime Minister's speech focused on vaccination, at least according to the questions asked by the national television journalist. He remains convinced that the Covishield vaccine does not pose a problem. He also wanted to point out that for the first dose, There is a 197 000 vaccinated, while emphasizing in passing that the Malagasy population was lucky to have the CVO and the CVO + to fight against this contagious disease.

To the journalist's question about changing the vaccine for the second dose, the Prime Minister simply replied that it depended on the opinion of the National Academy of Medicine. We wonder, then, if another vaccine is possible.

And if there were to be a 03th covid-19 wave ?

What arrangements would be made, if there were to be a third wave ?

“It depends on everyone”, said the Prime Minister. And to continue that the syndromic approach still continues, particularly with basic health centers. Other measures that the government has taken : all Covid-19 Treatment Centers (CTC) will be closed, except CTC-19 in Voara village. On the other hand, the medical management platform located in Mahamasina will be transferred to the said village. Is this due to the drop in the number of new cases of contamination and deaths linked to the coronavirus? ?

Anyway, we haven't left the inn yet. Caution is advised.
