MADAGASCAR AIRLINES TOWARDS A PROGRESSIVE RECOVERY

MADAGASCAR AIRLINES TOWARDS A PROGRESSIVE RECOVERY

The World Bank provides valuable support to Madagascar Airlines. She undertook to pay 60 $ million. More than half of this sum will allow the company to restructure and renovate its ATR72 fleet.

According to the information available to date, and subject to the finalization of agreements, Madagascar Airlines plans fleet plan as follows :

– End of June 2024 : 3th aircraft in service

– End of July 2024 : 4th aircraft in service

– March April May 2025 : 5th and 6th aircraft in service

Great support for the recovery of Madagascar Airlines

In order to restore Madagascar Airlines, the World Bank provided support to the national company. It will therefore finance the entirety of the plan’s investments., at height of 60 $ million. These sums will be used to restructure and modernize the ATR72 fleet..

The World Bank, through its director of operations for the Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius and Mozambique at the time, had indicated in March that it had decided to support Madagascar Airlines through the PIC3 project.

A modernization of Madagascar Airlines thanks to financing

So that Madagascar Airlines can meet its specifications and the various scheduled internal connections, the company is obliged to strengthen its fleet. This led to the grounding of four planes, leaving only two in operation, creating a real operational and commercial calamity. However, in case of failure, the company is unable to provide scheduled services. Le plan Phenix 2030 ready from start 2023, and discussed upstream with the World Bank, was therefore only launched a year later, after modification of governance and approval by the government.

Solutions planned soon

Madagascar Airlines plans to rent a plane similar to theirs. Ihe thinks he will have the reinforcement of a device from the beginning of June. Also, it is working on an agreement with maintenance service providers which will significantly strengthen their operational capacity. This will allow them to increase the regularity and reliability of their services, and to better predict their maintenance costs.

The company implements a communications program to provide regular updates and relevant information.
