MADAGASCAR AIRLINES RE-EXPORTS ITS FLEET ATR 72-600

The airline Madagascar Airlines frees itself from a plane. It is preparing to re-export a ATR 72-600 which is part of its fleet.

A fleet in operation for nine years

Madagascar Airlines prepares to re-export the ATR 72-600 MSN 1239, registered 5R-EJA which it had operated for nine years now. This decision was communicated to the Council of Ministers this Thursday 13 June 2024.

Actually, it is indicated in the minutes of the weekly meeting of the executive that the State has validated the assumption by the State of the payment of import tax duties (DTI) for the ATR device 72-60 MSN registered 5R-EJA of Madagascar Airlines.

This aircraft had been imported by Air Madagascar in 2015 under special temporary admission regime. This customs regime provides for the suspension of import duties and taxes. (DTI) for imported goods, for a specific purpose and on the condition that they are re-exported.

Free yourself from burdens

End of March 2024, the company had announced a program to strengthen its fleet until 2025. Indeed, this program provides for the standardization of this fleet, to be able to concentrate first on domestic flights. And so she planned to rehabilitate certain planes. But also to get rid of planes whose rent is too high for the company.

As announced by the General Director of the company at that time : “The company is in the process of selling off other planes whose rent was too high. We are taking them out of the fleet because renting them is far too expensive.”.

The situation at the moment is that’one aircraft in the fleet should leave the maintenance workshops shortly at the end of this month. As such, two devices, des ATR 72-500, with which the State had issued sovereign guarantees for rental, in a dry-lease acquisition plan, should also arrive in August and September 2024.
