Madagascar Airlines : Acquisition of the E190-E2 clutch from Brazil

Madagascar Airlines has announced that it will purchase an Embrayer E190-E2 from Brazil to operate national and regional lines. Discussions are progressing on the acquisition of the E190-E2 clutch from Brazil. A demonstration flight took place on 25 Last February on the line Antananarivo-Antsiranana-Antananarivo.

It was announced that an Embraer 190 will provide national and regional lines for Madagascar Airlines.

Mamy Rakotondraibe, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Air Madagascar explained that : “discussions with the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer are progressing for a possible acquisition of this type of aircraft”.

Also, he assured that "the company, changing, is moving towards operational excellence”.

Before concluding on an optimistic note : “Together near you and with you, we take off towards new horizons ».

For its part, Raul Villarion, Managing Director for the Africa and Middle East zone of Embraer, believes that this aircraft meets the requirements of the Malagasy market.

Full reopening of Malagasy borders

Reminder, the Council of Ministers of 23 February 2022 decided on a conditional reopening of the borders of Madagascar from 5 March 2022.
