Madagascar Airlines : Acquisition of two new ATR-72s 500

Madagascar Airlines plans to lease two ATR-72s 500 with ACIA Aero Leasing. This acquisition is part of a “Dry Lease” acquisition plan, where aircraft are supplied without crew or ground personnel.

The Madagascar Airlines fleet expands with the announcement of the rental of two new aircraft. It is two ATRs 72-500, according to information provided by company officials.

This acquisition is part of a “Dry Lease” acquisition plan. », where aircraft are supplied without crew or ground personnel. During the Council of Ministers on Wednesday, a decree has been issued, authorizing the Ministry of Economy and Finance to guarantee the rental of these planes by Madagascar Airlines from the company ACIA Aero Leasing, based in Dublin, Ireland.

These two ATRs will probably be chartered to the domestic network on which Madagascar Airlines had decided to refocus.

The State still guarantees Madagascar Airlines

The State still guarantees Madagascar Airlines for these new aircraft. The finance law 2023 also provided for a sovereign guarantee of 20 million dollars for the rental of new aircraft of the national airline.

The State also agreed to advance financing from the World Bank for Madagascar Airlines. It is this Bretton Woods institution which would have proposed this type of financing according to the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

The two parties agreed on the establishment of a contract relating to the reimbursement by the World Bank of expenses relating to the recovery of Madagascar Airlines advanced by the State.
