“Mad to Miss Madagascar” the Malagasy gastronomy in the spotlight in London
Little known in Great Britain, the Malagasy gastronomy will be honored at a unique event organized by a Malagasy family based in London, the 17 June 2017. “Mad to Miss Madagascar” celebrate the culinary arts Malagasy in all its States.
The culinary tradition of the Malagasy
The culinary tradition of the Malagasy was strongly influenced by Asian cuisine, Indian, Arab and African. Depending on the region where you are, flavors may vary, but the basics remain the same : rice, the coco, seafood, fish, the zebu as well as the various leafy vegetables.
Of course, Ginger or even chili, are very present in the Malagasy kitchen, but not as strong as in Indian dishes or creoles.
During the evening “Mad to Miss Madagascar“, the visitors will be able to taste several typical dishes, such as the meat of zebu with curry and coconut, the famous “Government” or skewers of grilled meat.

Otherwise, There are other typical dishes, such spicy (Indian doughnuts to form triangular), Chinese shrimp, the rogay, banana fritters, chicken curry and coconut, the ravitoto, sheet of pounded cassava, the sakai (a very hot pepper). The Malagasy cuisine is rich in surprise of any kind, also good for the eyes as for the Palace. Malagasy cooking is simple but tasty : the three daily meals consist of a plate of rice with aromatic herbs and leaves cooked in water or meat and vegetables boiled.
Some Malagasy artists will animate the evening, and present at the same time the culture of the big island.
Three Malagasy, the mother, the aunt and the daughter, installed in the United Kingdom for the years 90, are the initiators of this exceptional event. It must be said that the Malagasys are rare in this country. And the knowledge of the big island from the British confined to the famous amino Dreamworks film “Madagascar“. Thanks to this event, they hope to change that perception and promote the destination to the English.
“Mad to Miss Madagascar” will be held at the Church Anchor of Hope Christian Fellowship on Vyner Street from 17 h to 22 h the 17 June 2017. Free entry.
